A. Online Alberta Basic Security Training (ABST)
1. Acceptable method of requesting refunds:
1.1 All refund requests are required to be made in writing via email to firstname.lastname@example.org with “Refund Request” as the subject line of your email.
1.2 Refund requests submitted in any other format will not be considered.
2. As a customer, upon purchasing the ABST product from our website, you are responsible to understand that the online Alberta Basic Security Training offered by XA Staffing is an intangible and irrevocable product. For this reason, we DO NOT provide refunds once the order has been completed and the activation email for the training material is sent.
2.1 However, we DO investigate requests for refunds ONLY in exceptional circumstances under the guidelines explained as follows:
2.1.1 Issues with course access
The course platform is compatible with the following browsers – Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer and Safari. However, for an optimal experience please ensure that your browser has been updated. The course may not function correctly on outdated browsers.
The course is designed for use on laptops or desktops. It should also function well on most tablets. However, we do not recommend smartphones for accessing the course as the content format is not optimized for smartphone systems.
Due to some technical difficulties or incompatibilities with your device or browser you may have issues with accessing the course through our website platform. In this case, please contact us via email to email@example.com for assistance.
We reserve the right to troubleshoot and rectify any error or defect within 72 business hours of the receipt of the claim.
Claims for any issues pertaining to course access will need to be received via email within 3 days from the order placing date to be considered. If you do not properly contact us during this period, you agree that we may construe silence as successful receipt of the product by you with no further right of redress or refund for a “course access” issue.
Please note that we do not bear any responsibility and therefore we do not satisfy any refund requests based on incompatibility of our course with any third-party software (plug-ins, add-ons, modules, search engines, scripts, extensions etc.) other than those which are specified as compatible in a description available on the product page. We don’t guarantee that our course is fully compatible with any third-party programs and we do not provide support for third-party applications.
2.1.2 Issues with navigating modules
It may happen that you experience unexpected errors in navigating modules present within the course. In this case, please contact us via email to firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance. We reserve the right to troubleshoot and rectify any error or defect within 72 business hours of the receipt of the claim.
Please note that we will request information (such as screenshots of page where error occurred) for rectification of the error. Please note that failure in providing requested information in a timely fashion may result in a delayed resolution of the issue.
Failure or refusal to provide requested information will result in your inability to qualify for a refund.
You are required to provide an actionable, coherent, intelligible and unambiguous explanation of your issue in order for it to be approved for troubleshooting and potentially a refund. Failure in providing such an explanation will result in disqualification for a refund.
For example, sending an email with no further explanation than “I can’t access course” or “I can’t see training material” is not a clear explanation of your issue and hence is not approved for troubleshooting and by extension, a refund.
2.1.3 Product not as described
Such issues should be reported via email to email@example.com within 3 days of the date of purchase. Clear evidence is required to be provided that the course is not as described on the website.
Complaints based merely on the customer’s false expectations or wishes are not honored.
Complaints made regarding the online nature of the course are not accepted as it is clearly mentioned on the product page that the course is provided online and not in-class.
3. Use of obscene, threatening and inappropriate language will not be tolerated.
B. First Aid Courses
1. Cancellations & Refunds:
1.1 Refund requests can be made by phone or email sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
1.1.1 To be eligible for a refund on any First Aid course, notification is required to be submitted more than 5 business days prior to the date of the course to receive a refund. An administration fee of 25% of the full cost of the program will be withheld from the refund amount. Refunds may take up to 2 weeks to process.
1.1.2 Any refund requests submitted within 5 business days of the date of the course (excluding the day of the course) are not eligible for a refund.
2. Rescheduling & Transfers:
2.1 Reschedule or transfer requests must be received more than 5 business days prior to the course start date (excluding the day of the course).
2.2 For requests received within 5 business days of the course start date, an administration fee of 25% of the full cost of the program will be applied at the time of request.
3. Any requests made on the day of the course are not eligible for refunds, transfers or rescheduling and the registrant will forfeit all course fees.
4. No Show Policy
4.1 Any student that does not attend or arrives more than 15 minutes late for a registered class shall be considered as a “no show”.
4.2 All “no shows” are automatically ineligible for any refund, transfer or rescheduling requests.
5. XA Staffing Course Cancellations
5.1 XA Staffing reserves the right to cancel classes. Cancellation notices are provided via email only.
5.2 In the event that your training course does not take place after your booking has been confirmed, we will make every effort to reschedule the course and you will be offered an alternative date to take the course. If an alternative date is not agreed upon, a full refund will be issued.
6. Behaviour Policy
6.1 XA Staffing strives to provide a safe and appropriate environment to facilitate learning. If XA Staffing’s instructors and staff determine that a student’s behaviour is disruptive or threatening, the staff may take any action he or she deems prudent, including discussing the matter with the student, asking the student to leave or calling the police.
6.2 Dismissal from class in violation of our behaviour policy will automatically result in ineligibility for refund, transfer or reschedule requests.
C. ABST Final Exam
1. Exam Registration
1.1 We require that the registration for exam is submitted at least 72 business hours prior to the exam date.
1.2 Any registrations received within 72 business hours of an exam date will be automatically scheduled for the next exam date.
1.3 The first exam is free of charge only if written at our facility in Edmonton or Calgary.
1.4 Exam dates are released on a quarterly basis, typically in March, June, September and December.
2. Exam Rescheduling
2.1 Exam rescheduling requests can be made via email to email@example.com or phone and are required to be received 72 business hours prior to the date of the exam.
2.2 The first reschedule request will be free of charge. Any further reschedule requests will be treated as cancellations and will require re-booking and payment of exam fees ($50 + GST).
3. Out of town exams
3.1 We are unable to book out of town exams. Students are required to write the exams in our facility at Edmonton or Calgary.
3.2 If you wish to write the exam with another provider available in your town, exam fees payable to the provider may be applicable.
4. Exams with another provider
4.1 We will provide one exam per month at the minimum. We try our best to typically provide two exams per month with weekday & weekend options.
4.2 Nonetheless, if you wish to write the exam with another provider for your convenience, exam fees payable to the provider may be applicable.
5. Third party exam candidates
5.1 Third party exam candidates are those candidates that wish to register for the ABST exam through XA Staffing but have completed the training with another course provider. Exam registration requests must be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
5.2 As per guidelines set by the Security Programs department, third party exam candidates MUST submit, to XA Staffing, the course completion certificate issued by the training provider upon successful completion of the ABST course PRIOR to registering for the exam.
If registration and payment of exam fees is completed prior to submitting the course completion certificate, the candidate will not be permitted to appear for the exam until the certificate has been received and will be automatically rescheduled for the next available date. The candidate will also forfeit all exam registration fees.
